Hemlock Valley Volunteer Fire Department

In the event of an emergency, call 911

For a medical emergency, request Hemlock Valley Fire first. We're in the village and here to help in minutes.

Community Safety

Our volunteers serve Hemlock citizens and visitors with emergency responses to fire suppression, medical aid and motor vehicle incidents.

For the latest information on current wildfire activity, burning restrictions, road closures and air quality advisories, visit the BC Wildfire Service and the BC Government website.

First Responders

More than a fire service, our members are professionally trained, certified and licensed First-Responders.

Alertable is an emergency notification system that enables the FVRD to send alerts to residents, businesses, and visitors during critical events.

If you get lost in the hills, suffer an injury off the beaten path or you get stranded somewhere along Hemlock Valley Road; how will emergency services find you quickly?

One answer could be to download the third party app…

what3words is an app that has divided the world into 3 metre squares and given each of those squares a unique combination of three words.

It’s an easy way to find and share exact locations. When there are no addresses and no street signs. When there are no streets! You can share your exact whereabouts with a 911 operator using what3words. This will enable emergency services to find and help you, fast.

Another answer could be to use what’s already on your phone…

Share your location using your iPhone, or Android device.

Stay safe BEFORE you head out on that hike, or when you’re driving over new terrain, or when you’re going out on that first date. Learn how to change your phone’s settings so that the contacts you choose can keep track of you for a predetermined amount of time.

Over 80% of 911 calls are coming from mobile phones. Find out how to share your location in an emergency HERE
