Our local FireSmart Coordinator for the Fraser Valley Regional District has organized a wood chipping program for Hemlock Valley in an effort to help Hemlock Valley Homeowners make their properties safer from wildfires by clearing nearby vegetation and trimming tree branches.
The plan is for a chip truck and chipper to drive the roads of Hemlock Valley and chip branches residents have piled up at the end of their driveway. All residents have to do is make piles of branches at the end of their driveways, and the branches will be cleaned up by the contractor. As long as residents have their branches to the road by 8 AM August 22, the branches will be cleaned up.
It’s a great way for residents to reduce the vegetation around their homes and be better prepared for a wildfire.
